Aim and Objectives:

To work in legal sphere devotedly and to develop legal research environment at work place, especially in the field Human Right and IHL. Further more want to develop an environment of medically fit and healthy global society along with right, especially human rights, guaranteed sphere.

Present Job Profile:

Presently besides discipline assurance, teaching BA.LL.B., LL.M., M.Phill, also guiding students for M.Phill and Ph.D. Development of syllabi for the entire courses time to time as per Bar Council and UGC mandate is normal course of duties. Further manage internal examinations, help during university examination, all allied academic assignments, and to develop teachers’ skill are also part of my duties. Apart from this I am ex-officio member of University E.C. and Academic Council. I am ex officio chairman of Board of studies, Faculty Board and all the research committee of the college. Apart from this all formal & informal correspondence with statutory bodies, with various universities and within the university, independently is also a part of my administrative duty. Conducted entrance examinations for the admission in various courses. Worked in various committees.

Research experiences: More than 17 years, including the Doctoral Programme.

My researches are mostly focused in measuring the magnitude of health problem, the factors that affect health and how the social and cultural factors shape the health status of a population. Both quantitative and qualitative methods are used in conducting these researches.


(a) Presently working in the area of Reproductive Health- (i) family planning and decision making, (ii) menstrual health and its concomitants, (iii) adolescent male reproductive health (iv) menopausal health and risk factors (v) Obstetric morbidity study


(b) Worked as a Project Linked personnel (Supervisor) in a W.B.R.C.H. project entitled "Maternal (obstetric) morbidity in three districts of West Bengal" (assisted by DFIDI) in the Anthropology and Human Genetics Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta (form June 1999 to January 2000). The work includes preparation of questionnaires, organising and supervising field work, training of field investigators, conducting focus group discussion, analysis and interpretation of data and report writing.


(c) Worked as a Research Fellow (UGC, JRF) in the Anthropology and Human Genetics Unit of the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta (from December 1992- December 1997) and submitted the Ph.D. thesis entitled " Socioeconomic concomitants, health and well-being in two social groups inhabiting a squatter settlement in Calcutta", in the University of Calcutta, 1997.


Conducted fieldwork for the Ph.D. dissertation work on a squatter settlement population of Calcutta. The work includes evaluation of health problems of mothers and children of two social groups inhabiting the squatter settlement. The health problems have been measured in terms of (a) Reproductive health (fertility, mortality and family planning practices); (b) Biomedical traits (routine blood test, intestinal parasitic infestations, menstrual irregularities, clinical observation on health, self reported morbidity, etc.); (c) Anthropometric measurements on children, between 3 and 5 years of age, at two months interval for a period of one year; (d) Health and hygienic practices of mother and child; (e) Health-seeking behaviour of mothers. Data have also been collected on socioeconomic conditions of the population.
